About the Great CityGames
The Great CityGames showcases athletics in a completely unique format, providing an up close and personal experience for fans and giving those new to the sport the opportunity to experience the thrill of competition in an innovative and accessible way.
Events take place at purpose built, temporary outdoor arenas - featuring a specially constructed IAAF certified 4 lane sprint track - in two of the UKs most vibrant cities. Spectators can watch incredible performances in disciplines ranging from 100m hurdles, to long jump and pole vault, completely free of charge, against the iconic cityscapes of Manchester and the NewcastleGateshead Quayside.
The Great City Games are hosted in association with the major mass participation events the Bupa Great Manchester Run and the Bupa Great North Run, delivering a great weekend of sport for participants and spectators alike.
